Livery and Design Process

The 25-year anniversary livery for TS 24 was a highly detail-oriented project that needed to be more than just a collection of past identities. Throughout the process, we explored several themes, but the main requirement was to include a prominent metallic element, with chrome featured to mark the anniversary, and to ensure the design could be efficiently applied within a short timeframe.

Key updates for the 2024 Team Swinburne TS 24 included the front wing and sidepod profiles. These elements provided a new canvas for visual motifs that flowed onto the monocoque and extended to the off-wash area, creating a visual connection with the rear wing. This approach brought different design ideas together into one cohesive look, making the anniversary livery both practical to execute and visually impressive, and elevating the car's visual identity for this significant milestone season.

At the 2023 FSAE-A Competition, research for the next season had already begun. Observations showed that TS_23’s livery looked too similar to other teams, with many suggesting a stronger reintroduction of white into the team’s branding. Reviewing the TS_23 identity made it clear that the existing colour balance and design choices required a fresh perspective. From the outset, TS 24’s identity was developed to stand out from previous designs while still honouring past liveries. Capturing a sense of movement, even when the car is stationary, became a central focus. While earlier designs leaned backward, TS 24 shifted the posture forward, always conveying motion and progress.

Painting Process

Painting Process

The final look of the livery depends on both paint quality and finishing skill, which are crucial to how the car appears up close and on the track. For TS 24, Copamate worked with the team to manage every aspect of painting. They sourced genuine Porsche Guards Red OEM paint, known for its deep and vibrant colour, and applied it in their advanced facilities. Since all livery parts are made from composite material instead of metal, Copamate used a special preparation process based on guidelines from PPG, a leader in paint technology. The result was remarkable: a smooth, glossy surface that reflected like a mirror. This finish made TS 24 truly stand out and demonstrated the team’s dedication to quality and attention to detail throughout the project.
