Livery and Design Process
The TS 23 livery project was completed under a tight timeline, as engineering decisions kept changing throughout the process. From the first sketches to the finished, painted car, the team completed the design in just three weeks. The main goals for the new livery were clear: it needed to feature exposed carbon fiber to keep the team’s identity consistent, and it needed to restore TS 23’s reputation as the unmistakable red car on the track. Ferrari Rosso Corsa 322 was chosen for its bold, classic red, which paired with the carbon fiber to create a strong visual contrast. The livery’s motif was intentionally kept simple and focused, relying on clear forms and a touch of white for visual contrast and balance. This approach ensured the car always appeared fast and distinctive, while allowing the design to adapt to engineering changes and meet all project goals on a tight schedule.

After TS_22’s success, TS 23 aimed to establish a bold new image for Team Swinburne by retaining key motifs like exposed carbon fiber as core branding elements and adopting a fully iterative design process that encouraged greater creativity than in past years. With a tight turnaround, the team focused on simplifying the livery for efficient painting and masking. Research showed that red vinyl lacked the depth and vibrancy desired, so the team switched to paint for the car’s surfaces, preserving exposed carbon fiber and painting previously wrapped areas. The team evaluated various shades of red for richness and performance, choosing Rosso Corsa for its iconic hue and saturation to create a powerful on-track presence. Stylemaster Panels applied the colour expertly, delivering a unified, high-quality finish that reinforced TS 23’s bold, unmistakable identity.

The carbon fibre monocoque and composite aerodynamic devices were prepared according to Glasurit procedures, a benchmark for high-quality automotive finishes. This careful preparation produced a smooth, high-gloss finish.
